JotMind Privacy Policy
1. What JotMind collects
JotMind collects no data. There is no server that receives your information, because the app does not send your information anywhere. Specifically, we never receive:
- Your audio recordings or live microphone input
- Transcripts, notes, summaries, topics, tags, or anything you type
- Your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, or photos
- Any device or advertising identifiers (JotMind contains no ads and no trackers)
JotMind has no account and no login. There is nothing to sign up for, and no profile that could tie data to you.
2. Everything runs on your device
JotMind ships with its AI built in: on-device speech-to-text, the language model that turns your words into structured notes, and the semantic index that files notes into topics. All of this runs on your phone's own processor. You can put your phone in airplane mode and every feature still works — that's by design, and it's the simplest way to verify these claims yourself.
3. No analytics, telemetry, or crash reporting
JotMind contains no analytics or telemetry of any kind. We do not embed PostHog, Sentry, Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Segment, Crashlytics, or any similar SDK. There is no “anonymous usage statistics” feature and no setting to turn one on, because none exists. There is no crash-reporting service and no crash-log upload. The app does not phone home — not on launch, not in the background, not ever.
4. Where your content lives
- Recordings and notes are stored in the app's private storage area on your device.
- Deleting a note moves it to Recently Deleted for 30 days, then it is permanently removed. You can also erase items immediately from Recently Deleted.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from your device.
- If you use Apple's device backup (iCloud Backup or a computer backup), that backup may include JotMind's local data. Those backups are created, encrypted, and controlled by Apple under its own policies — we have no access to them and receive nothing from them.
- Exports (Markdown or text files) are created only when you tap Export, and go only where you choose to save or share them.
5. The one time JotMind uses the network — optional model downloads
JotMind's default AI models are bundled with the app and work offline out of the box. The only feature that uses the internet is downloading an additional or alternative AI model, and it runs only when you explicitly tap Download in Settings → Manage Models.
When you do, the app fetches model files over HTTPS from:
huggingface.co— Hugging Face's model hosting, the default source.hf-mirror.com— a mirror hosted in mainland China. On mainland-China networks the app automatically falls back to this mirror so downloads work reliably.
Like any web download, whichever host serves the file sees your IP address and which model file you requested — that's all it needs to send you the file. No account, no personal data, and none of your recordings, transcripts, or notes are ever attached to these requests. If you never download an extra model, the app never contacts either host.
6. Permissions JotMind asks for
- Microphone — to record your voice. Audio is processed entirely on-device and is never uploaded.
That's the only permission JotMind needs.
7. Cloud sync and backup (planned, not available today)
Today JotMind has no cloud sync. Your data lives on one device and does not travel between devices through us. End-to-end encrypted sync across your own devices (for example, over iCloud on iOS) is on our roadmap as a future, opt-in feature — it is not implemented in the current app. If and when we ship it, it will be off by default, clearly described in the app before you turn it on, and this policy will be updated first. Until then, treat JotMind as strictly local-only.
8. Deleting your data
Because JotMind has no account and collects nothing off your device, deleting your data is entirely in your hands:
- Delete individual notes in the app; they are purged from Recently Deleted after 30 days, or immediately if you choose.
- Uninstall the app to remove all JotMind data from the device at once.
There is no server-side copy of your content for us to delete, because we never had one. If you also keep an Apple device backup, manage or delete that backup through Apple's own tools.
9. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)
JotMind's design gives you these rights directly on your device: your data is in the app, you can obtain a copy with Export, and you can erase it by deleting notes or uninstalling. Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, port, or delete on our side — and nothing we could sell, since we collect nothing (we do not, and will not, sell personal data). If you have a privacy question or want to exercise a right, contact us at the address below and we'll respond promptly.
10. Who is responsible for your data (Data Controller)
Data Controller: Sanbit Inc.
Privacy contact: [email protected]
If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK and we are established outside it, we will designate a representative under Article 27 of the GDPR (and the UK equivalent) as required. That representative's details will be listed here once appointed.
11. Children
JotMind is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age set by your local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children — by default we collect none from anyone.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date above. If a change would ever expand what the app collects (we intend the opposite), it will be opt-in, off by default, and clearly announced in the app before it takes effect.
